International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day (officially International Day of Yoga) is celebrated every year on June 21 to promote the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. It was established by the United Nations (UN) in 2014, following a proposal by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Holistic Health – Improves flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.
Stress Relief – Helps reduce anxiety and promotes relaxation.
Cultural Heritage – Celebrates India’s ancient tradition (5,000+ years old).
Global Unity – Encourages harmony and mindfulness worldwide.

Mass yoga sessions are one of the most visible and impactful ways International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide. Governments, NGOs, yoga schools, and wellness organizations come together to host large-scale, free yoga events in parks, stadiums, public squares, and iconic landmarks.
